Rahim Karim
Rahim Karim is honoured to be a Founding Partner of NxtGen. Looking to make a significant impact on the youth of tomorrow by helping NxtGen athletes realize their potential and achieve their dreams.
Karim’s favourite game is hockey - sparked by exposure to the Vancouver Canucks. Karim still remembers his first NHL game, when his beloved Canucks faced off against the Winnipeg Jets. As refugees, created a new life in Canada in the ’70s, additional money for recreational activities - particularly hockey, which requires substantial financial investment - was limited; combined with a lack of accessibility to those unfamiliar with the game and a lack of representation in the sport -hockey became inaccessible. Karim focused his athletic abilities on sports such as basketball and football - experiencing racism, both on the field and in the locker room. Enduring the jokes and slurs he channelled his emotions into becoming a formidable opponent and a respected teammate. Karim has had a passion for health and wellness, even expanding into a career in personal training as well as owning and operating a health-food QSR before finishing his MBA and focusing on the growth and development of the Sales and Marketing teams for a number of high-profile companies.
Karim wants to use his experiences to make change for future generations - including his four children- making the sport of hockey more accessible. It is Rahim’s goal to educate and protect the future leaders of tomorrow on the impact of racism and to help provide them with tools and strategies to thrive.
